Dear Kaity, You Are Strong

The Letter Link-up | Mr. Thomas & Me

Dear Kaity,

When you sat on the couch in your stained pajama shirt and looked with mild horror at the layer of dirt on your living room floor, I know it was hard to give yourself grace, but you did it anyway. You're a hard worker.

When you snapped at your husband for helping out a family member, when you selfishly want all his time for yourself, you apologized and forgave yourself. You're a good wife.

When you plopped Charlie down on the floor to gaze at the harsh lighting emitting from Richard Scarry's cartoons on the television set and worried about somehow permanently destroying his brain cells, you let it go. You're a good Mom.

When those size 6 shorts you tried on at American Eagle were just a bit too snug, forcing you to buy the next size up, I know you felt frumpy. You wondered if you would ever get back into running and eating anything but freezer meals and takeout. Relax, you are beautiful.

When working full-time feels like too much. When your evenings with Charlie seem too short. When your marriage seems strained and disconnected, take a breath. Give yourself grace. You are strong.

Love,
Well, you

  3. I know this is a letter to yourself, but I can relate to so much of this! It's hard to play all of the different roles, and none of us are going to always be amazing at all of them all of the time. Just have to take it all one day at a time!

  4. I think that is just human nature. We are often our harshest critics, probably because deep-down we are aware of our amazing potential?
