Literary Junkies v6

Pink Heels Pink Truck
It's Tuesday, as in Literary Junkies Link-Up Tuesday! Here's my monthly bookwormish update:

1. What are you reading? Tell us about it!
I picked up a bunch of new books at the library yesterday for my Summer Reading Challenge: Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, 11/22/63 by Stephen King, This is Where I Leave You by Jonathan Tropper and a couple others I've been trying to sporadically work through.

2. Library or bookstore?
Well, you probably guessed it, but I'm a cheapo. But aside from being stingy, some of my fondest childhood memories took place at my local library. I think our public library system is a completely under-utilized service and they will always have my patronage!

3. What book(s) have you read and re-read several times?
I very rarely read books more than once (which is another reason why I love the library), so the only ones I can think of off the top of my head are the Harry Potter series and To Kill a Mockingbird.

4. What is the first book that made you fall in love with reading?
Such a hard question to answer because I've been reading for as long as I can remember. Roald Dahl will always be one of my childhood favorites, though. I could read him over and over again.

5. Who’s your favorite author? Tell us so we can binge-read!

Obviously, Roald Dahl and JK Rowling have to make this list. But I also love Elizabeth Gilbert, Rainbow Rowell and I don't know if he counts, but Jim Gaffigan. His second book is coming out in a few months and I can't wait!

Do you have any summer read recommendations? I haven't been doing nearly as much reading as I'd like to so I need something good to get me back into the swing of things!

  1. Harry Potter, whoop whoop! Those are books that I will never get tired of reading over again! I just finished Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. It's a great true story that has really stuck with me. I highly recommend it! I would love to know what you think of Gone Girl because I've been wanting to read it for a while. (By the way, I found your blog about a month ago and I'm really enjoying it!)

  2. I love Roald Dahl! One of my favorite storytellers! And of course, JK Rowling is also amazing. I'm glad you're a fellow library fan. :-)

  3. Gone Girl was good...I had a hard time getting past the first part but after that it was smooth sailing and a great book (well I could've done with a different ending). I nearly bought that Steven King book today but decided against it. And the Jonathan Tropper book is on my list to pick up! Thanks for linking up with us!

  5. You recommended Roald Dahl to me ages ago and I still haven't picked him up. :/ I will for the summer reading challenge, though!

  6. The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd. I would love to have a day to read it beginning to end! It is my treat when I get home from work. I don't want it to end!

  8. I LOVE going to the library. A library is a place of wonder to me. I used to spend hours and hours in them, getting lost in amazing stories. Sadly though, it seems as if they've become a thing of the past. I think you just inspired a future blog post in me!

  9. I'm with you on loving the library! I grew up going there all the time and I loved it! When we moved overseas, I was always hungry for more English reading material (this was back before ebooks/Kindle) so I'd always ask for books for Christmas from my family in the States. :) So now that I'm back in the States I never take the library for granted. All those books! Just waiting for me to borrow them and read every word! :)
