Literally Counting my Blessings

So I'll keep this short and sweet by saying simply that God has been doing amazing things in my life over the last month or so. He's helped me to see how truly blessed I am and also revealed how I am to use my priviledged position to help my brothers and sisters in Christ who are oppressed and hurting. I wish I could put into words the way the Holy Spirit has been moving through me these last few weeks, but it suffices to say that I am a changed person. Given this shift in my outlook, I've begun to more consciously count my blessings...which just so happens to be what this blog concerns....

1. He's blessed me with a sister who also happens to be my best friend.
2. He's blessed me with a mom whose shown me what it means to have a compassionate heart and continues to support me in everything I do.
3. He's blessed me with a grandmother who has not only helped shape my political ideology, but has constantly encouraged me to live up to my potential and continue to better myself.
4. He's called me to greatness.
5. He's blessed me with a servant's heart.
6. He's given me a free and independent spirit.
7. He's afforded me the opportunity to put a face to my brothers and sisters in Christ in other cultures and nations.
8. He's placed me in situations to prove to me just how strong I truly am.
9. When I had given up on being strong, He rescued me and gave me a second chance.
10. Three words: HOPE CHANGES EVERYTHING.
11. Every time I've been concerned about my financial expenses, He's provided for me.
12. He's given me a terrific job where I'm under the supervision of a kind and understanding man and am able to utilize my time to further my studies.
13. He's placed me in an internship where I will be surrounded by people answering the call to justice for His kingdom.
14. He led me to a university that has not only helped me discover who I am, but has shaped my spiritual life and drawn me closer to Him.
15. He's removed the wall of despair and hopelessness that Satan has put before me and replaced it with a feeling of thankfulness, hope and a desire for justice.
16. He's surrounded my with some of the most godly people who have helped me grow as a person and in my faith and a provoledged to call my friends.
17. He's revealed to me the beauty of the institution of marriage and the sanctity of sex that accompanies it.
18. He's also revealed to me how distorted out relationship with food is and introduced me to the way in which He desires us to nourish ourselves.
19. He's showed me how petty and trivial my materialistic desires are and made me see the beauty of simple living.
20. He gave me the opportunity to become actively involved in an organization that strives to free His children from the abuse of those who have manipulated the power system and continue to oppress the weak.
21. He's allowed me the opportunity to live in an array of places around the world and shown me His presence in each and every one.
22. He's revealed to me both the good and evil in institutions like the United Nations and the U.S. military.

Clearly, this is not an exhaustive list. But I thought I'd share with you the amazing things God is has done/is doing in my life, and I'd encourage you all to do the same for yours.

Love,
Kaity
