Guest Post: Lesley @ By the Porchlight

Not gonna lie...when I found out about Lesley's Literary Junkies link-up, I started to develop a little bit of a Blogger crush on her. I mean, a bookworm who loves to travel?! Sounds like a match made in heaven.

So when Lesley decided to take up residence in the Feature Ad spot on my sidebar, I was so excited that she took up my offer to guest post. Without further ado, Lesley...

Hello (Bee)eautiful Blessings readers! I'm so happy to be here today! I blog at By the Porchlight about all things creative plus good reads, good deeds and adventures!

I met Kaity through our shared love of books. I'm the co-founder of the Literary Junkies link-up and online book club. We're new but have been having lots of fun the past couple of months. Check out Kaity's last Literary Junkies link-up post here to see the fun you can join in every month!

Find out more about the monthly link-up here!

Let me recap my last link-up post for you. Since it was the season of gift-giving, we asked linker-uppers to tell us what books they'd give to lovers of different genres. Here's what I said:

For comedy lovers, I'd definitely buy Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling. I laughed out loud all the way through this too-short book. I didn't want it to end!

For lovers of chick-lit, even though it's not old or currently noteworthy, I would buy Bridget Jones' Diary. What a hilarious book! I absolutely loved it.

For those who like nonfiction, I'd choose The Freedom Writers Diary by Erin Grewell. This is a compelling true story that is bound to touch readers. I'm sure most people have seen the movie, and it's great, but the book is so much more real.

My last pick was for those for love literary fiction. The Birth House by Ami McKay is one of my all-time favourite novels. I, obviously, love that it's set in Atlantic Canada (says the Atlantic Canadian...) but even if it wasn't the story is so rich and beautiful that I couldn't put it down! Definitely a must-read.

After the link-up kicked off, Taylor, from Pink Heels, Pink Truck, and I decided to start the Literary Junkies online book club. We were shocked (and so pleased!) by the response! We've got 40 (FOURTY!!!) members who meet at our headquarters on Facebook. Then, once a month, the club also meets via Twitter to chat about the book & after our chat it was obvious that everyone was really taken by the creativity of our first novel.

We just finished reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. What a great book this was to kick off the club's first month!

I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone - especially those who can appreciate incredible imagination like you'd find in the Harry Potter series. Morgenstern is brilliant!

This month we're reading JK Rowling's new book, The Casual Vacancy, which I'm sure is on a lot of your to-read lists!

Wanna join in on the fun? Click here!

I hope you'll pop by and visit me at By the Porchlight! And stop by Tues, January 15th to link-up with all of us Literary Junkies!
