Our Love Story {Link-Up}

In the spirit of Valentine's Day (Chuck and I are celebrating tonight because our super, awesome V-Day date could only be done tonight: see here), I've decided to link-up with Becky at From Mrs. to Mama to tell my love story...

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
Chuck and I have been dating for a year and two months and have been engaged for nearly 6 months.
2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}
A friend was hosting her annual birthday extravaganza {SonJane Fest} and invited me to come. I'd only been in Ohio a few months and was in dire need of a social life so I went donning my ugly Christmas sweater and started chatting up friends at the party. Chuck was actually flirting with another girl the whole night while his best friend was preoccupied with me. As the party wound down the three of us decided to keep the night going and went to a local bar for more drinks before continuing on at another party. By this point, there was an obvious attraction so we sat cuddling up together on the couch while Chuck's best friend sulked in another room. He walked me home that night and his leading words into our first kiss were, "I think this is necessary." The next morning he woke up and immediately called me for our first date: brunch at The General Denver.
3. If married, how long have you been married? If not, is this the guy you hope to marry? {do tell}
I'll be meeting him at the altar September 2nd, 2012!
4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding?  If not, where would you like to get married? And will it be big or small?
The fact that his family is huge and coincidentally is also friends with everyone in the entire state of Ohio makes a small wedding impossible. But we're trying to make it as small as possible {mostly for my sake}.
5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another? Do share!
He's my Boo and my Sleepy Bear. I'm his Bee and the typical "baby."
6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
He's sweet, goofy and kind.
7. Tell us how he proposed? Or your ideal proposal?
On a beach at night. I recently wrote all about it: An Engagement Story.
8. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberrieschampagne, and rose petals?
He's not really either. He's absolutely terrible at surprises and knows I'm not really into superficial stuff like flowers.
9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
I can't choose! I love being a bum with my baby, but the beach is where my heart is.
10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
We've talked about it and we'd both really like to adopt a baby. I've always believed I'd have trouble justifying bring a baby into this world when there are already so many in need, so assuming we have the money down the road, we can't wait to open up our home and hearts to a beautiful little African baby.
11. Tell us what you plan on doing on this Valentine's Day.
As I mentioned, we're celebrating Valentine's Day tonight. So actual Valentine's Day will probably involve lots of kisses, snuggles and bumming on the couch.
12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's day?
I already have more than I ever thought I wanted :)
13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
I think for us, getting out of the apartment, going on dates and spending time with our friends and family keeps us happy and in love.
14.  Show us a picture of what love means to you.
Chuck's parents: 39 years and still as in love as ever.

  1. Aawww, so sweet! I love his pre-kissing comment, especially :)

  2. This post is very touching! I never knew love would be this powerful and happy. :') I was really inspired after reading this post. Stay in love both of you.
